maincubes has announced its new FRA04 data centre in the Frankfurt area.
FRA04 is being built in the Rhine-Main area, south of Frankfurt in Dietzenbach. The data centre will provide around 12,500m2 of whitespace (server room) and 40MW of IT capacity. The organisation has acquired the property with a committed capacity of 60MW and FRA04 will be maincubes’ largest data centre development to date.
“There are several aspects that set maincubes apart from other providers,” says Oliver Menzel, CEO of maincubes. “As a European company, we are independent and offer the best solution for data protection and data sovereignty concerns. We also know that efficiency and sustainability are key for hyperscaler and artificial intelligence organisations when selecting a data centre. Our successful EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) registration and implementation of the ESG framework in accordance with GRESB not only allows us to meet current customer requirements, but also fully prepares us for future EU regulatory requirements for data centre operators.”
Patrick Schütz, CRO of maincubes, adds, “AI and advancing digitalisation in the global economy are taking up considerable data centre capacities within a short period of time. Due to its central location in Europe, robust infrastructure, existing internet exchanges and aspects of data protection, Frankfurt with the Rhine-Main area is an extremely sought-after location. Here, hyperscaler and increasingly AI companies are competing intensively for the limited available capacities in the data centre market.”
maincubes FRA04 is scheduled to go live in 2027 and will be the first of several hyperscale developments on its growth trajectory.
