Multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, Cundall, has expanded its data centre offering to Australia with the appointment of Benny Cheah as Associate Director.
Having led, designed and delivered data centres for most of the last decade in Australia, part of Cheah’s role will be to expand the business’ thriving data centre offering in the Australian market. He will also have a key role in leading the Melbourne building services team.
Throughout his career, Cheah has amassed extensive experience leading teams on large multidisciplinary projects from various markets including high rise commercial, casinos, infrastructure and critical systems. He has a specialised focus on the design and delivery of data centres, having worked with one of the world’s largest data centre companies on their multiple facilities in Australia for the last eight years.
Commenting on his new role at Cundall, Cheah comments: “This is a great opportunity. I am pleased to join Cundall as part of their leadership team in Australia to help drive the continued growth of the data centre market in the region. I look forward to partnering with our clients, understanding their drivers for success, and delivering on the required solutions.”

The business is under framework appointments with a number of leading hyperscale providers. At present, the team are working on 19 data centre projects globally for clients that include Facebook, Telehouse, Stellium and Yondr.
Cundall was also recently shortlisted for three categories in the DCD Global Awards 2020, including ‘Hyperscale Data Centre Innovation Award’ and the ‘Energy Smart Award’ for the Facebook Odense Data Centre in Denmark. Vinodhkumar Sampathkumar, a senior critical systems engineer based in London was also shortlisted in the ‘Young Mission Critical Engineer of the Year’ category.
